Wat houdt UL certified in?

What does UL certified mean?

Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is the world's largest and best-known non-profit independent testing laboratory. Based in Northwood, Illinois, UL conducts safety and quality testing on a wide range of products. In short, a certification from UL means that production takes place under safe and responsible conditions and the products are of sound quality. A UL certificate is necessary if you as a manufacturer want to export to the United States of America or Canada. This means that semi-finished products such as wire harnesses must also be UL certified. Confed has UL certification and is therefore an excellent supplier for the manufacture of your wire harnesses.

Which parts will be certified?

UL certification reflects an organization's compliance with all applicable safety regulations and standards. UL certifies personnel, products, facilities, processes and systems. We briefly explain what this means.

  • Facility Certification. Here, plans are reviewed, evaluations are conducted to verify compliance with facility codes, performance of production assets is assessed and more.
  • Person Certification. These certifications demonstrate that employees perform their jobs safely and effectively, based on industry-accepted and standardized skills.
  • Process Certification. This certification demonstrates that business processes meet applicable standards and requirements.
  • Product Certification. These certifications demonstrate that the products have been tested to applicable standards. UL's recognized regulatory expertise provides assurance to authorities and the marketplace. So too outside Europe.

When is a UL certificate required?

A UL (Underwriters Laboratories) certificate is, among other things, a necessary certificate when you want to export products to (North) America or Canadian markets. A manufacturer of consumer or industrial products wishing to export to these markets must ensure that its products meet a wide range of technical requirements in order to obtain the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) marking. The UL logo indicates compliance with U.S. and Canadian requirements and federal laws. UL is commonly considered the equivalent of the marking called the CE mark in the European Union.
