Welke overwegingen zijn er bij het bepalen van het ontwerp van de behuizing?

What are the considerations in determining the enclosure design?

To protect the electronics from environmental factors, a variety of enclosure options can be selected. The enclosure is like a shell of the device, containing within it circuit boards, cabling, motors and other components. An enclosure can be produced from different materials, for example, plastic, aluminum, metal or other type of material. Our considerations when determining an enclosure are appearance, cost, production numbers, IP classification and robustness.

The considerations in choosing the right enclosure

To choose the most effective and appropriate enclosure for your electronics or electrical devices, we always consider a number of points beforehand. Below we briefly explain what these considerations are.

  • Appearance. The appearance of a product is important to the end user. A device without beautiful designs or trend-following housings will hardly be looked at.
  • Cost. Of course, the price of an enclosure type must also fit into your cost picture. Confed ensures an appropriate and quality enclosure within the given budget of our customers.
  • Production numbers. When a high production quantity is expected from a specific enclosure, it impacts the enclosure. For example, consider a cheaper material for the enclosure than if only a few enclosures are needed. Also, in the event of a large order, the production of the enclosure must be easily repeatable.
  • IP classification. The IP classification on electrical devices is an indication of the degree of protection of the construction of equipment, against its own damage from use in "hostile environments" and against possible danger to the user. Which IP classification is applied depends on each enclosure.
  • Robustness. The enclosure must also be built strong and sturdy to ensure minimal damage to the electrical device. A device must last as long as possible and this therefore requires a robust enclosure. The level of ruggedness varies by product and requirement of our customers.

Enclosures determined by Confed

There are different types of enclosures. These may include a customer-specific housing, selection of standard housing and whether or not to cast in synthetic resin. Confed plays an advisory role in this. The best options and choices are discussed with you and, of course, realized. In general, we do not produce housings ourselves but we outsource to specialized companies in the chain. By making sound agreements about this within our network, we guarantee speed, efficiency and a good price-quality ratio for these housings.
